The KFC fast food chain will increase its presence in the country with ten new restaurants, four of which will be located in Cusco, Chiclayo, Cajamarca, and a second restaurant in Huancayo, said Patricia Gamboa, marketing manager of the chain.
Lima will get an additional six restaurants, and the chain says it aims to strengthen its presence in the socioeconomic levels B and C. Gamboa noted that on June 22 KFC will open its first restaurant in the city of Cusco but still has no date for the openings of the other restaurants, reports Andina.
The average investment in the opening of each restaurant is $250,000, and if the restaurant is not part of a shopping center investment the price is higher, varying between $400,000 and $500,000, Gamboa said.
She added that currently the chain is remodeling three of its stores located in Lima and also plans to enable delivery distribution centers.
She explained that the criteria for opening a chain restaurant is to be located in a high traffic area and in the case of provinces, is looking to open restaurants where there is greater population density.
She noted that prices of local KFC menus in the provinces are 10 to 15 percent lower compared to those in Lima, and the menu is also slightly different.
KFC currently has 58 restaurants of which 48 are located in Lima and ten in provinces, mainly in Piura, Trujillo, Chimbote, Huacho, Huancayo, Ica and Arequipa.
The chain celebrates 30 years in Peru and has 1,130 employees nationwide, which are divided into administrative and operational staff.
"On average, each restaurant generates between 49 and 60 new jobs. At KFC this year we will generate approximately 500 new jobs," said Gamboa.
She also said that in order to generate an emotional bond with consumers based on trust and loyalty, the chain has invested heavily in their slogan "Buenísimo."
